Mt Gambier Update: April Races & Roaming Members

Race Day, 15 April

The Mount Gambier Karting Club had a relatively quiet day for their April club day in perfect racing conditions.

Two new drivers to the club, Jobe Stewart in Cadets and Owen Edge in Sportsman Restricted Heavy, had promising results overall.

Troy Moreland took out first place in Cadets followed by newcomer Jobe Stewart in second place.  Shane Moreland was the only entrant in Rookies and raced with the Cadets.

Junior National Light was won by Callan Belmonte, second place was Joel Robinson, third place was Morgan Feast and coming in at fourth was Josh Munn. Junior National Heavy was won by Jordan Murphy from Adelaide with second place Sam Baker and third went to Brad Saffin.

Sportsman Light 125 was won by Ashley Lear, second place went to Anthony Ciavatta and third place was Scott Moreland. Kelvin Moreland won the Sportsman 125 Heavy.

Mt Gambier Members In country Series

Local drivers competed in the Victorian Country Series second round at Portland over the weekend.  Some of the best results from the Mount Gambier karters were:

  • Glenn Henley, who competed in the Clubman Over 40’s, finishing second overall
  • Mitchell Broome took out second place in Junior National Heavy
  • Ashley Lear came in third place in Sportsman Light
  • Morgan Feast won Junior National Light
  • Josh Munn won Junior Max
  • Jacob Witherow came in second in Junior Clubman
  • Kirby Hillyer took out second in Rookies
  • John Dankowski won Clubman Super Heavy with a clean sweep of all four heats

The next meeting at the Mount Gambier Karting Club will be held on the 6th of May 2012.
