$10,855 Raised In JR Memorial Auction

The karting community got together this evening united in a giving spirit, as drivers, family members and team crews brought out their wallets to help the family of the late Jason Richards in a charity auction organised by IKD, the series promoters of the Rotax Pro Tour and the memorial event created in honour of the late Kiwi V8 Supercar driver.

The auction was conducted by Lee Hanatschek of the Australian Karting Association and items that were put up for auction included Jim Beam Racing memorabilia signed by Dick and Steven Johnson, six limited edition Jason Richards Memorial Prodezine kart race suits, a Casey Stoner tribute phographic print in celebration for his two MotoGP world titles, three French Connection watches, a V8 Touring Car hot lap ride for two people with leading Shannons V8 Touring Car team Pollicina Motorsports, a Rotax 125cc senior kart engine and an Arrow X1E Sport kart chassis.

In total, the auction raised $10,855 in support for Jason's widow, Charlotte and their two children, Olivia and Sienna.

IKD would like to thank everyone who generously donated the auction items this evening, as well as those who donated generously this evening.

Racing commences tomorrow morning from 9am with qualifying and heat racing and continues on Sunday with the Pre-Final and Finals, with a memorial tribute to be conducted prior to the commencement of the Finals. Live audio commentary will again be streamed online via Ustream.
