Preview: Launceston Senior National Feature

Karter’s from around Tasmania will converge on the Archerville Kartway this week for the running of the 2012 Senior National Feature.

The main races will be between the Senior National Light , Senior National Heavy, Senior National Over 40s and Over 40s Super Heavy - all running the Yamaha ”J “ engine.

With many drivers switching classes to compete in either Senior National Light or Heavy for the first time this year, Hobart’s  Kelsy Sapwell (Light) and Launceston’s Jonothan Males (Heavy) - who have been almost unstoppable in there respective classes - will have to be at their very best to beat the influx on new drivers.

Perth’s Scott Wrigley, who has won nearly every race in Over 40 Super Heavy this year, will start red hot favourite for those with a bigger power to weight ratio.

The race meeting also incorporates the Phil Goss Memorial for Over 40s, a race held annually for the respected Launceston Club member who died in 2009. Hadspen’s Neville Young will be attempting back to back victories for this highly sought after trophy.

Also competing this weekend will be Cadets (7-10 years), Rookies (10-12), Junior National Light/Heavy(13-16), Senior Clubman Light/Heavy, TAG Restricted Light/Heavy and Open TAG.

Practise takes place on Saturday and racing commences at 9am Sunday 6 April.
