This weekend sees the second exciting round of the 2012 ROTAX MAX EURO CHALLENGE being hosted by the ever-popular ProKart Raceland circuit in Germany. The 1,275 metre Wackersdorf track offers the ideal location for the international Rotax championship, providing some great racing, facilities and hospitality for the many teams and spectators who come out to support the competitors making-up the 160-strong field representing 29 different nations this weekend.

Following two days of open practice for all drivers, this afternoon sees official timed practice for all three classes – Rotax Junior Max, Senior Max and the Rotax DD2 gearbox class in the battle for grid positions for tomorrows 19 qualifying heats. Sunday begins with the second chance deciders for juniors and seniors, prior to the pre-final and final to finish.

The opening round of the series in Belgium turned on some brilliant racing in early April, especially in the Max category, while the points are what will count most in the fight for overall championship standings as we approach mid-season. With the high caliber of drivers making up the field, the second edition is set to be yet another fabulous weekend of racing.

Temperatures leading into the event have been in the high twenties, although the forecast indicates some storms and cooler days are on the horizon. Last year, the rain arrived just in time for Friday’s qualifying practice and again for finals day, creating some surprising results to make the championship even more interesting after the Bavarian round.
