Aussies Qualify Well In GermanyTweetBoth Australians competing at this weekend's second round of the Rotax MAX Euro Challenge in Germany have qualified second in their class. Pierce Lehane, driving an Alonso Kart for Dan Holland Racing, missed pole by 0.001s to Charlie Eastwood (Formula K) in the Senior MAX class. Lehane set a blisterting time of 51.047s in his group, which only Eastwood (in another group) could better. Lehane's 'teammate', Sean Babbington, is third (51.086). Driving a Formula K chassis with the Formula K Europe team, Joseph Burton-Harris clocked a 51.828s lap to qualify second in Junior MAX. Despite a pole lap time by Janneau Esmeiler (Intrepid) of 51.627 (just over 2 tenths faster than Burton-Harris), the top 43 are covered by less than 9 tenths of a second.
Both Aussies will line up in 'Group B' of their respective class for tonight's heat races. Belgian Xen De Ruwe (Formula K) has qualified fastest in the 32-kart DD2 field. Central Europe is about to get hit by a cold front and rain is expected.
