Some news briefs from the karting world:

  • The 2012 Non-Gearbox Australian Superkart National Championships, plus the Victorian State Championships for Gearbox class karts, will take place at Phillip Island on September 1 & 2. The twin-championship event will be co-hosted by the Victorian Superkart Club and the Adelaide Superkart Club. "Reigning Champions have confirmed their place at this year's event and the Gearbox drivers are equally looking forward to running a State Championship once again" the Victorian club advised KartSportNews.

  • ekartingnews reports that a karting documentary film is in the making. Shofner Films will soon begin production of "Become One: A Karting Documentary". Shofner’s vision is to express karting in the most amazing way possible, to enlighten people who have no idea or conception of what a truly great family sport karting is.   • The latest edition of Australian Motorsport News (on sale today) includes a feature on Australia’s representatives in the 2012 World Under 18 Karting Championship, the challenge that lies ahead for them and how a successful run overseas could help set up their career like it did for James Courtney and Ryan Briscoe.
