Top Kart Dominate Pro Junior At CIK SoK Round

press release

The third round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series was held at Ipswich Kart Club over the 15th 16th and 17th of June.  Top Kart drivers were at the forefront of the fields dominating the KF3.

Cameron Hill once again was a stand out in the hotly contested field of Pro Junior KF3 drivers. After taking out the win at the previous round at Newcastle, Cameron entered the weekend full of confidence and it showed. Securing third in qualifying things only got better for Cameron after he secured heat 2 and 3 wins. In Final 1 Cameron came away claiming the win and also securing the State Title that was up for grabs, and adding to the State Title he then claimed the win in Final 2. “My Top Kart was on fire all weekend! To come away leading championship is fantastic and hopefully we can improve our lead in the next round.”

James Abela put his best effort forward so far. After sustaining an injury in the early stages of the weekend he still managed to continue to push himself throughout the weekend.  Jake Klein also put a great effort in and is improving each time as he races more in the elite CIK series.

Joseph Mawson started the weekend on fire in Pro Light KF1 after securing pole position in the top 5 shootout. Joseph managed to finish second in all heat races putting him in a great position for Final 1. Unfortunately in Final 1 things only got worse for Joseph, when his kart had trouble starting on the grid, causing him to leave the out grid late and consequently he was then forced to start from last position. A determined drive saw Joseph manage to drive through to finish in 5th position in Final 1. Final 2 saw Joseph place 6th, after a snapped brake support that caused the brakes to drag during the race. “We had a little bit of bad luck this weekend, but I am confident heading into the next round, especially as it will be at my home track.”

Kyle Ensbey was faced with all kinds of mechanical failures throughout the weekend in Pro Gear Box KZ2, however he still managed to secure 7th in the Final 2. Kyle is now sitting in 4th position in the championship, a mere 12 points behind the current point’s leader.  Dan Curry also put in a fantastic effort though out the weekend as did Hayden Patrizi.
