Reigning CIK Stars of Karting Series Pro Gearbox (KZ2) Champion Tyler Greenbury finished seventh in the WSK Euro Series round at the La Conca circuit in Italy on the weekend.

Competing at one of the world’s most famous karting circuits against some high quality opposition, Greenbury (right, AF Images/Budd pic) finished the weekend by showing some strong speed in Sunday’s main event.

While extremely pleased with his final result, the 19 year-old believes the experience he gained across the weekend was invaluable.

“I’m so happy right now, to finish seventh in my first WSK event is fantastic,” said Greenbury.

“It’s a completely different world over here compared to Australia. The grip level on the track was out of this world and it took a fair bit of time to adapt to the conditions, both in my driving style and chassis set-up.

“I learnt so much every day I took to the track and in the final I was setting some fast lap times while moving up through the order.

“Overall it was a fantastic experience.  I really enjoyed the opportunity and learnt so much.  A huge thanks much go to my parents and Brian Hicks for their continued support along with Chris and Mattia from CRG Australia and Lee Hanatschek for everything he does for Australian karting.  Also a big thank you to the Australian Karting Association and organisers of the CIK Stars of Karting Series for the prizemoney from last year’s championship that helped me get over here.

“The support from the Australian community was amazing – so thank you to everyone else for cheering me on.”

The event was won by Italian Negro Riccardo ahead of Netherlands Davies Dylan and Juodvirsis Simas.
