Vegas SuperNationals XVI Registration Opens Today

press release

Limited space available in each of the nine categories confirmed for the 2012 edition

In the current global landscape of kart racing, there is only one place where you can see over 500 of the best drivers from all over the world come to compete head-to-head -- that race is the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals.

In just under five months, the world of karting will be totally focused for a full week on the city of Las Vegas for the 16th running of the SKUSA SuperNationals, which is held outside the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on November 14-18. The green flag for the race to the SuperNationals begins with event registration, and this will commence immediately as the organization is happy to announce the opening of their online process on July 1.

The 2012 process for registration will see an evolution from previous events, with a new emphasis on supporting current Superkarts! USA competitors with the addition of the new ‘Preferred Entry Program’. At 12:01am PDT on Sunday, July 1, 2012, a limited number of entries will be available in each class as a pre-set number of grid spots will be reserved for drivers who have run a SKUSA Pro Tour or regional ProKart Challenge event in 2012 (as of July 1).  In addition, any driver who is pre-entered by July 1 for the SummerNationals in Utah on July 20-22 will also be placed in the ‘Preferred Entry Program’. The program has been designed to provide SKUSA racers a guaranteed opportunity to attend the event as a participant without paying on the very first day of registration. Those competitors who are part of the ‘Preferred Entry Program’ will have from July 1 to August 31 to complete their online registration. Should they not elect to enter, their entry spot will be placed back into the class inventory in the SKUSA Online Store. SKUSA is encouraging all competitors to enter as soon as possible, including those in the ‘Preferred Entry Program’.

“The SuperNationals event is a massive undertaking, which we spend countless hours preparing for,” stated Superkarts! USA President Tom Kutscher. “The registration process is something that takes a lot of time and attention from our office team. This new program has been designed to help streamline the procedure while securing a position for our loyal SKUSA racers, who will now be able to avoid the frenzy of submitting their entry on July 1 or wondering if their class will sell out before they have the necessary funds to register.  The concept is this, if you race with us during the year, we want you to be able to attend the SuperNationals. There is so much international interest, we just don’t want our regular customers to get locked out because they didn’t enter in time.”

Also, to help eliminate the opportunity for teams to merely enter drivers to secure positions, Superkarts! USA is instituting a revised cancellation program. If a competitor elects to cancel their entry before October 1, a $200 cancellation fee will be charged, and there is no longer a provision for drivers to transfer or sell their entry to another driver. After October 1, no entry fees will be refunded for a cancellation -- unless SKUSA still has a competitor on the wait list for that class that is able to promptly get registered in the vacated spot. More details on the registration process and the new regulations will be posted in the online store when it opens for entries this weekend.

The class roster for the 2012 SKUSA SuperNationals will feature nine categories with a possible tenth class still under review. The featured classes will come from the SKUSA Pro Tour lineup, headlined by the S1 Pro Stock Moto and TaG Senior divisions. S2 Semi-Pro, S4 Master and TaG Master complete the Senior level classes with S5 Junior, TaG Junior and TaG Cadet rounding out the categories for drivers 15 and under. The international KZ2 category will join the class structure in Las Vegas, welcoming a number of drivers from around the world. The possible tenth class is still in discussion and confirmation will come in the coming weeks.

Rooms have been filling up fast since the release of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino block of rooms on June 1 for SuperNationals XVI, and the special SKUSA room pricing is nearly half sold out.  For the week of November 14-18, competitors and spectators alike can stay for an affordable price, at just over $80 per night average during a seven-night stay. If you’re registering for the event, be sure to reserve your room or rooms at the following link (http://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-reservations?propCode=RLV&groupCode=SRSNA12). A one night deposit is required to secure your reservation. You can also call the toll free reservation number at 1-888-746-6955, and ask for group code SRSNA12 or use the group name SuperNats 16 to secure your hotel reservations for this historic event.

Superkarts! USA is also busy preparing for the upcoming SKUSA SummerNationals at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah on July 20-22. Registration will remain open for that event until midnight on Sunday, July 15 -- before the fees increase for at-track registration. Further details regarding this year’s SuperNationals and the SKUSA Pro Tour can be found at the www.superkartsusa.com website.
