Internationals Join Strong Rotax Nationals Field

The 2012 Rotax Nationals are less than a week away, and excitement is certainly building amongst reigning Champions and those vying for positions at the World Finals in Portugal, however there are eight New Zealand drivers that are sure to add spice to the mix.

Some of New Zealand’s best Rotax racers have contested various rounds of the 2011/2012 Rotax Pro Tour; in particular the inaugural Jason Richards Memorial event in Albury in April and they are back for Dubbo with success in their sights.

Rotax Heavy will have Brendon Hart, Zach Zaloum and Aarron Cunningham added to it, with Fraser Hart, Daniel Kinsman and Daniel Connor all joining Rotax Light. Josh Drysdale will take part in the hotly contested Junior Max category with Niki Urwin returning in DD2 Masters.

This weekend (24-26 August) sees the New Zealand Rotax Max Challenge round occurring in Auckland, a race that will be crucial to determine who represents the country at the World Finals aswell as being ideal preparation leading into the Dubbo event.

Entries currently sit at in excess of 170 for the 2012 Rotax Nationals in Dubbo, featuring two oversubscribed categories being Rotax Light and Junior Max adding to the excitement heat races will be broken down into groups. The Nationals will also feature the largest field of DD2 entries ever seen on the Pro Tour with over 30 karts across both DD2 and DD2 Masters categories.

The weekends presentations will not only feature the awarding of National titles, but also the announcement of the 12 drivers who will be invited to attend the 2012 Rotax World Finals in Portugal in November to represent Team Australia. With Rotax rankings currently very close, each race across the weekend will be crucial, in particular the 30 lap finals to take place on Sunday afternoon.
