Karting news briefs:

  • Fancy racing against David Sera? Or maybe a V8 Supercars driver? Whincup, Holdsworth, or The Giz?? The Monster Energy V8 Time Trial Challenge will take place at Ace Karts in Melbourne on the Thursday night of September 13. Qualifying sessions for the event are currently underway, but close on September 9.

  • Entries for the 2012 Australian Speedway Kart Titles close at midnight, Wednesday 29th August. The event takes place at the Gosford Showground Kart Speedway on September 8 and 9. "Most drivers are eligible to enter, with our regular classes being run, however P-Plates, Cadets and C-grade Rookies are ineligible to enter" the club advised KartSportNews.   • The entry list for the media & teams challenge at tonight's Karting Showdown at Eastern Creek has been released. KartSportNews will not be represented in the field, but there are a number of individuals who possess significant karting experience, including speedcafe's Grant Rowley and V8 Commentator Chris Jewell.   • The Oakleigh Kart Club's annual Kingston Cup will this year only cater for seven classes. The one-day event (Saturday and into Saturday evening) will have Cadets, Rookies and Junior Clubman, plus mid-weight categories for Junior National, Sportsman 125, Sportsman 125 Restricted and Senior Clubman.   • A 'Friday Diary' has been posted on the AKA website from day 1 of the U18 World Championships round in France. It includes comments from Jacob Parsons and Joseph Mawson about their efforts in the opening four x 15 minute sessions, the last one of which was wet. Click HERE to have a read.
