Geelong Kart Club Acquires More Land

The Geelong Kart Club has acquired more land at its Corio based facility. The club's Dominic Albanese informed KartSportNews the extra land, which had taken the club years to obtain, means an extention of around 200m is now in the pipeline.

"The area is about 100 metres long by 50 metres wide and is in the section at the end of the main straigh. This is the area which we have sometimes used with temporary fencing for big meetings. We have now officially been given the land and have fenced it off as our own" he said.

The club is looking at various options regarding the track extension, from a fast sweeper / S-shaped extention to the main straight, or the addition of 2 or 3 tight corners and a new longer back straight.

"We will still have the original track layout as an option and the new longer version as another option. There is also about twenty metres of track to be added from the edge of the existing circuit to reach the new land area, so the overall extension will be significant.  We are hoping to have this available in the next 1 to 2 years."

"We will also have access to a very large area at the rear of the new pit area beside the harness racing track to park as many vehicles as we need."
