Tough Start For CRG In Sarno

press release

First day of time trials and first qualifying heats on the International Circuit Napoli in Salerno for the KZ1 and KZ2 World Cup. CRG's performance is decidedly outstanding, even though the expectations, after the laps recorded on Thursday during free practice, were not completely fulfilled.

IN KZ1 THE WEEKEND STARTED BADLY.

The drivers of the most winning team ever in KZ1 were slowed down by several hitches; in fact, Jonathan Thonon on CRG-Maxter, winner of 4 World titles out of five editions run so far, could not express as he wanted to and had to be content with the 13th time in the time trials. He then managed to reach a more promising 6th position in the qualifying heat run on Friday afternoon.

The weekend of the Belgian champion started badly, as well as Davide Forè's, 12th in the time trials and he, too, sixth in the other heat, while Fabian Federer achieved a good recovery, from the 19th spot of the trials to the 7th of the race. The Brazilian Gabriel Dias placed 12th in his heat.

Bad luck, so far, for the young Dutch driver Jorrit Pex; he was forced to retire for an engine failure during the heat he was taking part in with a very interesting pace. That is a real shame, especially because this quick driver's chances (he is the reigning European Champion, the WSK Euro Series Champion and winner of the German Championship) are now much fewer.

For the drivers of the official team, Saturday will be a fully scheduled day, with more qualifyingheats on the way: it is a crucial appointment, because they will be able torecover positions and then go to the final phase on Sunday standing better chances. However, great recoveries are rather common in CRG when you can count on such good and skilful drivers. Of course if the weather will allow it, because weather forecasts say that it may rain during the weekend.

IN KZ2 VERSTAPPEN, LENNOX AND TIENE HOLD THE STAGE.

Things are going decidedly better in KZ2, where Max Verstappen - on CRG Holland - has held the stage so far: he is second, only 42 milliseconds behind the leader and before the other excellent CRG's driver, Felice Tiene, both at their debut in an international race in KZ2. In the heat run on Friday, Verstappen - on CRG-Tm - won after a rather slow start, while Tiene did an awesome recovery after his kart turned off at the start. Eventually, the Italian driver recovered as far as the 9th position.

Excellent and with great chances Jordon Lennox-Lamb, on CRG powered by Maxter directly prepared by the factory. He was second, right behind his rival, Torsellini, on Tony Kart in Friday's heat. Here, the French Morgan Weber placed 9th. With the Kalì-Kartchassis, Luca Tilloca placed 11thafter a good heat, while Franco Stinchelli - always on a Kalì-Kart chassis - was slowed down and arrived in 26th.
