Wollongong's Last Race At Kembla GrangeTweet
press release Following some heavy rain overnight, a group of dedicated volunteers spent the first part of Sunday morning removing large puddles of water from the track so racing could commence. The sun was starting to poke its head over the horizon and all appeared to be looking good for the final ever race meeting of the WKRC at Kembla Grange. Both the Junior Clubman boys, and the TAG series boys were champing at the bit to get onto the track to highlight their skills. Racing throughout the day was fast and exciting in all classes, only marred by a couple of red flags that interrupted proceedings. Luckily no major injuries and racing continued into the afternoon. Young Brock Goroch was the recipient of an Encouragement awarded handed out by the Assistant Clerk of Course. Kristoff Wiskich will be recorded as the last member of the WKRC to have completed a circuit of the track. The club wishes to advise karters the WKRC will no longer be running any events from the Kembla Grange Circuit, however an announcement on the future of the club is imminent. The club would like to thank all those volunteers, officials, competitors and drivers who have supported the club over the years helping to make the club the success that it is, and we look forward to having you race with us in 2013.
