The Euros Are Coming For Da$h For Ca$h

  16 October 2012

Two world class European drivers have confirmed their participation in the 2012 Dash for Cash at Kalgoorlie on November 10 and 11.

Italian Roberto Tonninelli and 2011 KZ2 World Cup winner Joey Hanssen from the Netherlands will make the 14,000 kilometre trip to the centre of Western Australia for their chance to win a share in the $10k prize pool in "The KZ2 Invitational" event.

In addition to the international drivers, two big names in the karting industry will also be attending - Ronni Sala, the owner of Birel, along with his Japanese 'super dealer', Mr Tadashi Sasaki.

V8 Supercars driver and race organiser Michael Patrizi is overwhelmed by the turn out for the 2012 race.

"It's just unbelievable what this race has turned into" he informed KartSportNews.

"This race gives the guys in Australia the opportunity to race against some of the best in the world, and the young kids to see the drivers they look up to. A lot of drivers don't get this opportunity. I'm lucky as it's part of my job, so I'm happy I can assist in making this a reality for others. It's all for the sport, the sport of karting that I just love."

Patrizi hinted there might be a third international driver coming, and that he's had further interest from Euro kart companies.

"We had an owner of another manufacture in Italy call last week asking how he can get his team to the event, although time may be against us. 2013 is already ramping up.

"The commercial support for this event is growing every day and this year so far we have over $70k in prize money for the event where ten thousand of that will be on the line for the KZ2 class. This is testiment to the hard work and dedication that the committee of the Dash for Cash in Kalgoorlie and the Eastern Goldfields Kart Club have done."

Up to 30 KZ2 spec karts are expected to hit the circuit for the final 30 lap encounter, which will be held under lights on the 990 metre circuit.

Freight is covered for all eastern state KZ2 competitors, and names such as Matt Wall, Kyle Ensbey, Lee Mitchner, Ricky Capo, Jason Faint, Kel Treseder and Jason Pringle are confirmed for the event.
