Karting stuff from anywhere:

  • Is karting dying? Or are we merely seeing a market shift from owner-drivers to arrive-and-drive convenience? karting1.co.uk's Alan Dove has written an intersting article questioning the health of the sport and the direction it is taking. Click HERE to have a read.

  • The listing of OMP products that are now available in kart shops around the country can now be downloaded. The 1.5Mb PDF from DPE is HERE.

  • Gippsland Kart Club life-member Graeme Monds elected not to stand for re-election at the club's AGM this month. Monds held the position for ten consecutive years and will remain the club's VKA Delegate. Office bearers at the club for the next term are: President - Glenn Wall, Vice-President - Alfi Prestipino, Secretary - Anita Stratton, Treasurer - Phil Lane, Licence/Membership Secretary - Loraine Aitken, Race Secretary - Sharon Lowater & Loraine Aitken, Committee - Peter Aitken, Ross Miller, Simon Pooley, John Schena, Brett Hopkinson.

  • Prize money will be up for grabs at the Golden Jubilee Metropolitan Cup at Eastern Creek on November 3/4. With the exceptiopn of Jnr MAX, cash will be paid to the top three in all classes at $150 for 1st, $100 for 2nd and $50 for 3rd. The Junior Rotax class competitors will all receive a set of tyres, courtesy of IKD, to run on the day. The meeting runs in reverse direction with different classes on each day (the event is also a club round and TaG Super Series round). Further info & Supp Regs are on the Race Calendar page.

  • Minky Albon, the mother of UK racer and last year's Vice KF1 World Champion Alex Albon, has been sentenced to six years in prison for a £7.5m (AUS$11.6m) fraud involving a Ponzi scheme and luxury cars. Further details on dailymail.co.uk HERE.

  • A Junior Development Training Camp will be run at Lithgow early in the New Year. The January 17/18 camp is for AKA licenced drivers from Cadets through to Juniors, and will be free of charge. Camping is available at the track and nominations close November 30. Further info HERE.

  • Biffo from the Super 1 British Karting Championships, Junior KF3 class. The poster, videoalien888, wrote this about the clip: "Overpaid Premier League Footballers please note..... This is a teenage girl bouncing up after a 60mph crash, not like you lot rolling around on the floor holding your face because a hand brushed your chest!" The same poster has another clip about "squeezing" a competitor compared to plain running them off the track. Click HERE to watch it.
