Preview: 2012 Stampede

  30 October 2012

press release

The "Glory Bound" Rounds Start On Sunday!

This Sunday,  November 4 , Nepean Motorsport Complex will come to life again as the NSW Speedway Kart Club hosts the 2012 "Stampede".

This race meeting is Round 8 of the NSW Speedway Kart Club’s 2012 season championship and is proudly sponsored by Sydney Speedway.

Sydney Speedway recognises the importance of the NSW Speedway Kart Club to the speedway industry.  On any given night at the Granville venue many former and current members of the Club can be seen there.

Names such as Dumesny, Brazier, Bellbowen, Needham, Bourke, Caunt, Evans, Smee and Brown (just to name a few) have all had or still have a relationship with the Club.  Track Manager, Rebecca Seymour, stated “The NSW Speedway Kart Club has such an important part to play in the future of the sport, that  the Board of Directors and Management of Sydney Speedway are more than happy to support and help nurture the future champions.”

November 4 was to be the last round of the season however, with so many rain outs earlier in the year, it will now be the penultimate round with one more race meeting scheduled for November 18.

The racing this weekend will be just as hot as the predicted weather with drivers striving to get those last points to secure their championship hopes.

Racing will be on the super fast, ultra racey 400mtr track and will no doubt again provide a superb racing spectacle - as it has done all year.

Whilst the points for the championships have been closed off, what is known is that not one of the 7 classes racing has been decided and this, in itself, is a testimony to how competitive the racing is within the Club.

The "Stampede" race meeting is being held at the Nepean Motorsport Complex on Rickards Road, Castlereagh, with racing commencing at 10am. Entry to the venue is $5 per adult to watch 24 events and afterwards spectators are encouraged to stay and join in the celebrations of the day’s results.

The Club has a full canteen to assist you with all the food and drinks you require as you spend a lazy Sunday on the grass hill watching fantastic speedway action.

“So come and watch tomorrow's Stars today!”
