Smith Set To Defend Vic Title This Weekend

  1 December 2012

press release

The 2012 Victorian Closed State Tiles at Bendigo's Marong Raceway is the last major karting event for 2012. This weekend is set to be big with over 200 entries looking to close out the year on a high and take home that coveted black plate.

The Bendigo Kart Club has recently added a new section of track which will no doubt mix things up for those yet to have experienced the new layout.

Regular Over 40s front runner Phil Smith from the Oakleigh Kart Club in Melbourne Victoria was dominant in winning last years event held at the Swan Hill Kart Club and as always is again well prepared and ready to defend his title this weekend.

" I really do look forward to this event each year, its the last big meeting and and its great to mix it with the best of the old guys in the Over 40s category.

Phil is looking to go one black plate better this year, also entering the Sportsman Heavy category in his Kosmic / IAME X30.

"Both the Monaco and Kosmic chassis have been fantastic all year. We've won many events in both categories so there's no reason why we cant go back to back at this years Vic Closed Titles".

Racing commences Saturday with the finals run Sunday afternoon.
