Short and sharp...

  • A crash helmet worn by Australia's 1980 Formula One World Champion Alan Jones back in his karting days has now got a $15,000 price tag. The item, a silver open-faced AGV helmet with a blue stripe, was found in a market stall in Queensland, but is now listed on a new motorsport collectables website. Jones wore the helmet when he was karting in Victoria as a junior in the early 1960s. More details on speedcafe.

  • Bloody Idiot Department: Several people saw this on the news this past week; a guy driving a homebuilt vehicle down Narellan Rd in Sydney's south-west. Motorists caught the action on phone camera, allowing the general media to slam this go karter. Karting identities quickly slammed his actions too, pointing out the go kart and driver behaviour is not what serious karting is about... Footage and news report on Yahoo7 HERE.
