  4 January 2013

First news snippets for 2013...

  • An addendum has been issued for the Junior Top Guns at Oakleigh on January 18 and 19. It clarifies that trophies will be awarded to the top three placings in each class on each night, then the top 5 on points for the two rounds combined. This, and any other event information for the opening meetings of 2013, can be found on the Race & Events Calendar page.

  • The 16th annual Granja 500 was run in Brazil last month. The 650 lap race was won by the Spirit Sport team of Alexandre Ruiz, Ernani Kuhn and John Pretto, followed by Christian Fittipaldi/Nelson Piquet Jr. The winners elected not to change tyres when rain fell at the 10-hour mark. Eight-time winner Rubens Barichello, Tony Kanaan, Lucas Di Grassi and Jaime Alguersuari were some of the other 'stars' to compete. Some photos and results can be found on Vroom HERE.

  • Also in Brazil, Kamui Kobayashi has been revealed as the latest entry for Felipe Massa's annual International Challenge of the Star kart race on 12-13 January. Reports say Fernando Alonso, Pastor Maldonado and Vitantonio Liuzzi will also compete.

  • Hyper PRO Racers are now available in kit form. Initially only offered as finished factory builds, there are now various level of kit and accessory packages. This allows customers to save some cash by building their own Hyper PRO Racer to the factory spec, or utilise Hyper technology to build a performance vehicle for other applications. There is currently a '$2000 off' offer, which expires on January 31. Further details on their website HERE.
