Ten Times The Energy For 2013

  9 January 2013

press release

Energy Corse Australia has today announced a huge line-up for the 2013 CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE.

It is anticipated that there will be no less than ten karts from the Italian marque on the grid across the three Pro categories, including some high profile recruits.

Since re-launching the brand into Australia less than 12 months ago, Team Principal Adam Graham is delighted to have a significant number of karters on the grid in his product for 2013.

“I’m very excited about the year ahead and really looking forward to taking the challenge to the bigger teams,” said Energy Corse Australia boss Adam Graham.

“Given the fact that we only re-launched the brand into Australia less than 12 months ago and last year we headed to round one with just one kart on the entry list, to now look like we’ll have at least ten on the grid for round one in 2013 is very pleasing.”

After winning the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) Championship in 2012, Chris Hays will once again lead the way for the brand. However, Hays will have a number of counterparts on the grid in the same chassis.

One of the biggest recruits for the Energy brand is two-time runner-up in the championship Kel Treseder. The Queenslander will campaign an Energy chassis during 2013 under the Kel’s Karts and Parts banner with long-time supporter Ray Fulcher heading the team. The team will be boosted by the fact that one of the world’s leading mechanics Jon Targett will be spinning the spanners for Treseder.

“After only running a limited schedule during 2012, I’m more excited than ever before to be getting back behind the wheel in a big way during 2013,” said Treseder.

“I’ve known Adam Graham (Energy Corse Australia boss) for many years and he understands what it’s like to race at this level. In saying that, I’d also to thank the team at CRG Australia for all of their support over the past three seasons and wish them all the best for the upcoming season.

“My long-time sponsor Kel’s Karts and Parts will remain as the integral part of my program and I will be running under their banner once again for 2013 with the Energy chassis. I’m also really excited about having someone to the calibre of JT in my corner for the 2013 series.

“This year is shaping to be the toughest championship to win for many years, the level of competition is set to be close to a world level with the likes of Joey Hanssen doing the full series and many Aussies competing internationally throughout the year.”

Other Pro Gearbox drivers set to re-unite with Energy Corse Australia in 2013 include Troy Bretherton, Jason Faint and John Grother.

In the Pro Light (KF) ranks Jarryd Ebzery will make the change for Kosmic to Energy while still campaigning under the Harrington Doyle Racing banner. Long-time Leopard Light competitor Adam Willison will make the step up into the Pro ranks while one of Australia’s International open-wheel and Sports car driver John Martin is expected to make a number of guest appearances.

There are also a couple of junior drivers set to line-up in the ‘red, white and blue’ who are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2013 CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE will begin in Ipswich, Queensland on February 23/24.
