Thomas Randle to Race RK With Birel KartSport Australia

  22 January 2013

press release

The Birel Kartsport Australia team has confirmed  reigning Australian Junior Clubman and Rotax Champion Thomas Randle will join the team for his campaign in 2013.

Randle will compete aboard an RK Kart in each round of the Rotax Pro Tour, Rotax Nationals, Victorian Open and National Championships in the Rotax Light and Clubman Light categories where applicable.

“Thomas has shown over the past 12-18 months that he is an amazing talent and a real star of the future, we’re delighted to have him aboard an RK Kart throughout 2013,” said Birel Kartsport’s Steve Macken.

“Late last year Thomas drove a Birel product in preparation for the Rotax Max Grand Final in Portugal with success through victory at the South Australian Championships.  The RK Kart comes out of the same factory and I’m confident that he’ll be right on the pace when he takes to the track in this weekend’s Rotax Pro Tour event in Melbourne.”

The majority of drivers competing under the Birel Kartsport Australia umbrella during 2013 completed a comprehensive test program last week at three Victorian tracks.  Macken believes the five day test was an enormous success with many valuable lessons learnt by the drivers and crew during the intense testing.

“With so many major events being held in Victoria this year, it made a lot of sense to take advantage of the holiday season and do somewhat of a pre-season camp and test week,” said Macken.

“We tested at three tracks across five days and achieved a significant amount which I believe will put us in the best possible position for an all out assault on the year ahead.”

Birel Kartsports’ first event for 2013 will be this weekend at the Rotax Pro Tour in Melbourne.
