NSW Southern Star Series

This new Series has been formed by energetic members of the Southern Zone clubs, all striving for a series that has the karter as the main priority.

 The goals for this new series are:

  • To promote karting in country NSW
  • To provide a well run and competitive series of race meetings over a calendar year on NSW country tracks
  • To provide a weekend race meeting that has plenty of track time and encourages participation from all karting levels

  • Round 1 - Canberra Kart Club 23/24 March
  • Round 2 - Wagga Kart Club 11/12 May
  • Round 3 -Dubbo Kart Club 20/21 July
  • Round 4 - Grenfell Kart Club 24/25 August
  • Round 5 - Griffith Kart Club 12 October

The weekends format of racing that we have chosen is what all clubs have agreed on.  See format below:

  • NO PRACTICE ALLOWED ON THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO THE EVENT.
  • Saturday morning practice.
  • Saturday afternoon and Sunday racing.
  • Computer grid draw for heats.
  • Pre-final grid determined by heat results.
  • Final grid determined by pre final finishing order.
  • Three (3) heats of eight(8) laps.
  • Pre final of up to twelve(12) laps.
  • Final of up to fifteen(15) laps.
  • Points overall will determine round winner.
  • The Griffith round will include one round under lights.
  • Series Prize winners will be announced in the 'dusk break' before racing recommences. Winners must be present to claim prize or re draw will occur.
  • Round and series winners will be announced at the conclusion of racing at the final round at Griffith.

Entry fees:

  • $105 per entry for all round entries
  • $75 for second entry

A levee of $15 is taken out of each entry to cover series expenses and series prizes.

Registration
A Southern Star Series registration form must be filled out completely and handed into the race secretary at the time race entry. Series registrations will only be accepted in the first two rounds. NO LATE SERIES ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN.

  • Registration is optional. However, to be eligible for series points, trophies and prizes you must be entered in and compete in all series rounds. Additionally entrants will be kept informed of any news, points updates etc, from the information given in rego form.

Prizes at all rounds will be offered to all drivers.

Timetable

  • Pre race entries available via CMS

Saturday

  • Track open from 7:00am
  • Race entries and scrutineering from 7:30am
  • Unofficial Practice from 8:00am
  • Race entries close 10:30am
  • Drivers Brief 11:00am
  • Official Practice from 11:15am
  • Racing commences 12:30pm

Sunday

  • Track Opens 7:00am
  • Drivers Brief 8:00am
  • Carby session 8:15am
  • Racing Commences at 9:15am
  • Presentation one (1) hour after completion of racing

Points
Points for the rounds are as follows:
1st = 0 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 3 points, 4th = 4 points and so on. DNS and DNF will be the number of entrants plus one(1) point. The winner will be the driver with the least overall points for the round.
Round points for the Series are as follows:
1st = 20 points, 2nd = 17 points, 3rd = 15 points, 4th = 13 points, 5th = 12 points, dropping by 2 points per place down to one (1) point.

Final points for each registered entrants will be added together for all the five (5) rounds of the Series to decide the winner. The winner will be the Driver with the most points after all five (5) rounds are totalled.

  • Junior National Light
  • Junior National Heavy
  • J-Max
  • Senior National Light @ 145kg
  • Senior National Heavy @ 170kg
  • Clubman Light
  • Clubman Heavy
  • Clubman Super Heavy
  • Sportsman 125 Restricted @ 170kg
  • Sportsman 125 Light
  • Sportsman 125 Heavy
  • Sportsman 125 Super Heavy
  • Open Performance

All classes and tyres as per the 2013 AKA rule book.

A minimum of five (5) entries per class is required to run that class. If insufficient entries are received for a class, classes may be cancelled or combined at the discretion of the committee. All Classes will have TWO rounds to form, with the minimum five entries. A participant whose class does not form has the chance to take 75% of their points from the unformed class to one other class. Classes not formed after the 2nd round will NOT be offered at remaining Series rounds.

  • Weights will be set as per 2013 AKA rule book if not stated otherwise.
  • Tyres for all classes will be as per 2013 AKA rule book.
  • Clear visors are compulsory for night racing at Griffith.

                                                                                                                
Driver Eligibility
The Southern Star Series is open to all AKA license holders. From A Grade drivers right threw to "P" Plate drivers. We encourage everyone to come and experience what each club has to offer.

Awards and Prizes

First, Second and Third place getters in each class will be awarded trophies at the end of each round.

For the overall Series trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place getters. The winner will also be presented with a red number plate which can be worn on his or her kart in the same class and series the following year.

One major prize of a chassis will be randomly drawn at the "Dusk Break" of the final round at Griffith on the Saturday night. To be eligible the winner must have registered in the Series, participate in all five rounds and be present at the draw.
