  22 February 2013

press release

Arrow Karts enjoyed a successful series opener, gaining victory in six classes on finals day at the Geelong Kart Club. Competition levels were dense and exciting as competitors strived to gain the preliminary ‘top spot’ in the overall series point scores.

Arrow drivers also scored numerous podiums to add to the win tally, including déjà vu of the January ‘Junior Top Guns’ meeting with another impressive top-five clean sweep of the Junior National Heavy & Light categories.

Junior National Heavy

Junior National Heavy was without a doubt one of the most challenging and fierce categories over the weekend, with Arrow drivers Braydon North (Pro Karting), Zac Soutar & William Hawkes all sharing heat and pre-final victories. In the final it was again Pro Karting’s Braydon North who skipped away to a commanding lead to the flag with an all Arrow top 5 finish. KTEQ Rental’s Nick Rowe continued his recent good form to come in 2nd with Aaron Cameron 3rd, Zac Soutar 4th and Robert Titherington rounding out the top 5.

Sportsman Over 40’s

Arrow’s own Marketing Manager, Steve Johnson, dusted off the cobwebs in blisteringly quick fashion in the Sportsman Over 40’s category to win Sunday’s Final by 1.5s. The weekend wasn’t won with ease however, with Frank Falla and Shamick Racing’s Gavin Harvey serving it up throughout the meeting. The Arrow trio went on to to fill each of the subsequent podium spots in the Final.

Junior Clubman

The premier junior class proved to be one of the classes to watch at Geelong, displaying exciting and surprising racing all weekend long with each race having a new race winner. Arrow pilots Will Hawkes, Nick Rowe & Shamick’s Justin Ford all shared a part of the race victories, with Shamick’s Will Hawkes taking out a hard fought victory in the all-important final race.

Clubman Heavy

The Clubman Heavy class had two of modern karting’s heavyweights displaying their exceptional race craft - none other than multiple national & state title holders Remo Luciani & Shayne Piper (both driving Arrow’s sister kart, Monaco). J&A’s own Leigh Nicolaou was quick to diminish both Piper and Luciani, with victories in both the first heat & pre-final, before using outstanding technique to take home victory in the final from a nearby Shayne Piper with Remo Luciani 3rd.

Junior National Light

In similar form to the Junior National Heavy category, Arrow accomplished a top-5 clean sweep of the JNL class. CC Racing’s Dylan Hollis was the stand out driver of the event winning both heats before edging out Bryce Fullwood in the final to take the top step on the podium. Jacob Prestipino came home 3rd with J&A’s Luis Leeds 4th and Aaron Cameron 5th.
