Huge CRG Lineup At CIK OpenerTweet
press release CRG Australia will have an expanded line-up for the opening round of the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Series in Ipswich, Queensland this weekend. No less than 20 drivers will take to the circuit aboard the St George Kart Centre imported chassis across five categories at the event. After finishing in the top three for the past two Pro Gearbox (KZ2) Championships, Jason Pringle will lead the charge for the team in the category. A trio of New South Welshman, Greg Olson, Mathew Erdman and Jake Coleman, will join the Victorian on the Pro Gearbox grid.
After finishing runner-up in last year’s Pro Junior (KFJ) championship chase, Coleman makes the step up into the extremely competitive Pro Gearbox field, which includes the likes of 2011 World Cup Champion Joey Hanssen. Coleman’s graduation to the senior ranks opens the door for a new junior star in the CRG team with Drew Ridge and Lachlan Saccardo lining up for their first race in the elite junior category.
Jedd Stojakovic won the Australian Leopard Challenge in 2012 aboard a CRG chassis, this year he makes the step up into the Pro Light (KF) ranks alongside fellow rookie Leo LoBianco and the more experienced Ben Edwards and Jordan Nicolaou. In the Dunlop TaG categories, CRG will also have a strong presence with five drivers spread across the Light and Heavy fields where they will be fighting for the Queensland State Championship. CRG Australia’s Chris Dell is enthusiastic about the potential of this year’s line-up in Australia’s elite karting championship. “With 20 drivers using CRG product in this weekend’s opening round is something that the entire team at St George Centre should be proud of and I can’t wait to see them all take to the track this weekend,” said Dell. “We’ve got a very good mix of youth and experience in the team and I’m confident that they can all learn from each other and take CRG to the top step of the podium throughout the year.” Practice will be held tomorrow from 10am ahead of qualifying and heat races on Saturday. A pair of 25 lap finals will be contested on Sunday.
