Cunningham Commits to Pro Tour

driver press release 20 January 2015

World Finals DD2 Masters rep and self proclaimed "Kartsport Superstar" Aarron Cunningham will be taking part in the inaugural Round of the Australian Rotax Max Championship, his management confirmed this morning after securing funding from Windward-zaibatsu.

An invigorated Rotax Pro Tour is the first big event on Karting Australia's calender after substantial changes were made to the way championships are contested. Now being contested over a 7 round series, consistency and commitment will be rewarded and it is hoped the desperate last lap win-it-or-bin-it lunge will no longer be a viable race strategy.

Being held in Melbourne's inner suburbs at the Todd Road circuit over the 23rd to 25th of January, this is the first opportunity for Cunningham to test himself since returning from an eventful World Finals in Spain. Teaming up once more with his long time and long suffering team, CRG Australia, Cunningham heads over with a long time sparring partner and friend Shane Hodgson on the spanners.

Lauded by some as the most competitive domestic Rotax Championship in the world, Australia's qualifying drivers recently returned from the World FInals with a team podium as well as a dearth of impressive results. It is this level of competition that Cunningham really hopes to benefit from.

After his first taste of World Finals competition, Cunningham is hungry to return for another attempt,  "Every year, the competition for New Zealand's World Final's seats gets harder, both with drivers coming through the ranks and established masters upping their game. While being great for New Zealand karters, this is not so good for me. With no shortage of masters drivers worthy of representing our country, fighting over two seats, you really have to be on top of your game if you want to be able to compete.
More seat time at a high level is only going to lift my game and bring valuable experience to my home campaign in 2015."

"The goal as always is to keep learning, take what I can from every race and keep moving forward, and maybe with luck fill one of those seats and represent our country again. "
