  • With Darren Hossack off his feet after his speedway accident, DPE Kart Technology had to source a relief driver for the truck. Former employee Adam Klunyk was called back into service to pilot the big rig to Pro Tour. Watch him Hoss - he'll be after your seat in the Audi next...


  • Speaking of Hossack, the DPE Kart Technology Race Team Manager is recovering at home. He recently had seven staples removed and the brace taken off his right leg. "Still a long way off walking but today was a step in the right direction" he wrote on Facebook.

  • Competitors all across the country are reminded that the Australian Kart Championship regulations allow drivers to drop their lowest point score from the first four rounds of the Championship. This means that even if a driver was unable to compete at the opening round in Melbourne, or had a low scoring event, their chase for the Championship is far from over. Round 2, hosted by the Go-Kart Club of South Australia on May 22-24, also doubles as the South Australian Championship for classes contested in the AKC. Entries close this Friday (May 8).   • Interesting summary of entry levels at major events in the UK and internationaly, compiled by Kartlink - click HERE to see the charts. Locally, people are saying entry levels for the State and National championships are less than what they were in the past. While that observation is true, it's not really a fair comparison as previously these have all been one-off events and now they are a series. Let's wait until the end of the year to draw conclusion...


  • Victorian karter Leigh Nicolaou, here with dad Tommy, won the Rookie Driver of the Round in the V8 Utes in Perth last weekend. Leigh placed the Shamick Racing Skyreach ute 15th in the final race.

  • Ouch! Last lap of a Stock Honda shifter kart race at Summit Point's Shendadoah circuit in the USA. Both drivers will race again, but one required shoulder surgery:


  • Italian manufacturer VemmeKart has announced it will have a factory race team competing in the WSK Promotions program, Italian Championships and the CIK/FIA European Championships. "As a manufacturer, it is important to have a European presence," explained VemmeKart founder, Vince Mandarino. The team will also offer arrive and drive programs.


  • A $20,000 purse will be on the line for the Outlaw Kart Open Division at the Cycleland Speedway in California in September. The event is presented by NASCAR star Kyle Larson and will be the most lucrative one-night event in Outlaw Kart racing history. Interestingly, it runs on a Tuesday night (September 8).
