TWM Headlined By KZ2 & KF3 Drivers At Monarto

press release 20 May 2015

Two of the biggest categories in this weekend’s second round of the Australian Kart Championship at South Australia’s Monarto Kart Complex, KZ2 and KF3 corresponds the majority of Tom Williamson Motorsport drivers, with three in each of the classes along with representation in the X30 category, with this weekend being the first time the series has visited the one kilometre long track.

In his first season in the country’s premier Karting category, KZ2, Townsville’s Josh Smith continues to gain a healthy amount of experience behind the wheel both here in Australia and as part of the Pro-Kart Series in New Zealand. Recent strong results ‘across the ditch’ at the Tokoroa round, combined with successful testing in the build-up to this weekend has Smith confident to make regular top ten appearances.

An impressive beginning to the season for Kris Walton at Todd Road saw the Queenslander qualify third before eventually finishing fifth. The reigning Australian V8 Ute Champion managed to deliver a string of results inside the top ten before claiming the top five result in the all-important final.

South Australian local John Mangos will have home track knowledge on his side in the 27-Kart KZ2 field as he continues to improve with critical track time in the six-speed category aboard his BirelART chassis.

Pre-event testing at Monarto for Canberra trio Zane and Alec Morse and Joshua Fife will continue their charge in the KF3 category, with Zane having experienced some engine issues at the opening round, before eventually finishing third. The youngest of the Morse pair, Alec, took fourth, a solid result despite having competed with a bent chassis, as with Fife who finished as high as eighth in the third and final heat race in Melbourne.

Two days on track at Monarto with Tom Williamson have the three drivers feeling confident of making regular appearances at the pointy end of the field with them all being behind the wheel of a Tony Kart for this weekend.
The final driver as part of Tom Williamson Motorsport this weekend will be Tom Quinlan in the X30 class. The Gold Coast based driver experienced strong pace throughout the races at Todd Road, however being caught up in on-track dramas proved not to reflect the true potential in results for Quinlan.
