Karts to Euro F3 Banned?

  26 June 2015

Drivers could soon be banned from stepping out of karts and straight into Euro Formula 3. Instead, they could be forced to do a season in the new Formula 4 or some other similar category.

Autosport.com reports that European F3 Championship teams and FIA officials have entered discussions about such a ban.

This follows poor driving standards in the category at the recent Monza round where two drivers barrel-rolled out of the race before nervous officials red-flagged the meeting to end the carnage.

A leading team boss said "No one can deny that a 15-year-old boy still has his brains growing!"

While that might be true, there are several much older drivers in the sport whose brains have still not yet fully grown...

Personally, I don't see the point. If a 15-year old kid is going to crash their brains out in F3, they're going to do the same in F4.

And let's look at the reality - this will only ever be an issue for the handful of cashed up kids who can actually afford to do Euro F3 in the first place.
