Angelo Mouzouris' Maiden Blue Plate

press release 29 June 2015

Angelo Mouzouris has stunned the karting world in 2015 by punching out good result after good result in his Haase AMR backed chassis but Mouzouris took his biggest win to date this weekend taking out his maiden state championship in the Victorian Karting Series!

Mouzouris took a second place in the weekend’s final round but was all he needed to take home the championship win in the ultra-competitive Junior National Light class. When speaking to Mouzouris the relief and excitement was beaming from the young junior karter! “This is such an amazing feeling to finally win the state championship! We knew what we had to do this weekend but it’s never over until you cross that line and to take the win was an amazing feeling”.

Mouzouris had challenges in the championship from Australian Kart Championship front runner Corey Arnett and former state champions Joshua Smith and Jordan Caruso in a highly competitive Junior National Light class.

“The competition has been tough all year with Josh and Jordan both taking round wins and Corey challenging for the win at all race meetings which has made the win feel that more special” said the young karter.

Mouzouris started his championship in perfect fashion taking a clean sweep and the round win at the opening round of the Championship at the Geelong Kart Club. The young karter then dominated again in round two until a mistake in the final allowed Josh Smith to take the round win. Mouzouris then assured his dominance at the penultimate round of the championship taking another clean sweep at the Oakliegh Kart Club. With a comfortable lead the state champion in elect ran top five all weekend and taking a second place in the final round wrapping up a fantastic championship.

Mouzouris has also just become part of the Penrite oils driver development program and now looks to the rest of the season trying to go one better and become Australian Champion in the KA Junior class where he is currently running in the top three.
