NSW Superkarts, Round 5

press release 13 July 2015

The weather may have been cold and the fog refused to clear, but the 5th round of NSW Superkarts didn’t disappoint the spectators at wonderful Wakefield Park on Sunday.

The numbers were down a little in the gearbox classes but there were still enough to make things interesting.

Qualifying was action packed after fluid was dropped at the end of the straight on an already icy track and everyone struggled for grip. Paul Campbell was first in his 125 Avoig, Matt Wark 2nd in the Anderson Mavrick 250 and 16 year old rookie James Burge qualified 3rd outright and managed to take pole in the Rotax Non Gearbox class in just his second race.

As usual the Rotax Max 125 (NGB) class provided excellent close racing throughout the day with the victory available to anyone in the top 6 or 7.

In Rotax Max Lights it was Mark Vickers in his trusty Arrow X3 who won 3 of the 4 races and continues to extend his lead in the 2015 championship. Alan Parker wasn’t far behind followed by Wayne Horswell in third.

In the Heavy class Alan Dodge in his IWT Scorpion dominated the day once again, but Greg & Brian Tinsley were not far behind in second and third respectfully.

The Rotax class continues to grow in popularity with Roese motorsport being the latest team to join and confirming another two karts for the AASA state titles on the 8th August.

Graeme Taplin’s Stock Honda performed well all day, while Paul Campbell from Redback Racepaint dominated the 125 GB class and the day overall showing fast consistent pace all day.

Jack Makay won 3 out of the 4 races after Mathew Stockman and Mathew Wark experienced mechanical problems in the early sessions. John Dunn in 250 National also experienced problems early, but later managed to put some points on the board.

Special thanks for the event sponsors Roese Motorsport for another great day of racing.
