King of the Hill, Gonna Be Big

press release 8 August 2015

One of WA karting’s biggest events, the King of the Hill, is coming up on the 29th & 30th of August for its fifth year of running. Already there are over 200 entries and plenty of time still left to nominate. Last year there were almost 300 entries.

It’s great to see Harvey Norman – Joondalup come on board as the primary sponsor.

Traditionally, the King of Hill celebrates the Restricted 125 classes. Five years ago the club saw this as a semi-neglected class and decided to build a meeting around them. This has lead to some great racing to watch and lets the guys and girls of Restricted shine in the spotlight for a change.

Sharing the top billing for the meeting is the WA KZ3 Series. All the drivers will be out to knock off the current National Series points leader Jake Klarich. This class is always fantastic to watch, keep an eye on Gwilliam, Howe, Burke and of course BD Soutar-Dawson to race hard and fast.

Other classes include:

Cadet 9 – With Jett Demarte, Luca Nici & Jamie Christison all expected to fight out for the podium.
Cadet 12 – Watch for locals Sam Christison, Cody Leunen & Chase Hoy.

Jnr Nat Light – Current State Champ Jesse Thomas, Damon Papasergio and Sam Dicker will continue their battle for supremacy. But there are a number of dark horses in this class, so who knows how the podium will pan out.

Jnr Nat Heavy – Locals Brock McGregor and Cooper Scott should be the ones to watch over the weekend.

Jnr Clubman –Shae Thompson & Sam Dicker will continue their fight to be top of the class. These two have won all the Jnr Clubby open events this year between them.

Senior Nat Combined – Local Glenn Fisher and Tiger member Mark Rosenauer have dominated the class this year and should again put on a display of tough racing.

Clubman Light – This should be very interesting, can the “old boys” Bergman and Jones hold off some very fast youngsters in Mitic, Schou and Sheehan?

Clubman Heavy – As usual this will be a very tough class; can Thomas Sparkes maintain his good run of form in his Praga? Or can Bayley Bell knock Thomas off the top spot?

Clubman Super Heavy – This class has been a bit quiet lately but we can expect a strong turnout this meeting. Thomas McPherson should feature well over the weekend.

Sportsman Masters – The “Good ol’ Boys” will put aside the walking sticks and go hard. Local Stephen O’Hare will be one to watch here, along with Paul Hughes and John Ray.

TaG 125 Light – Local lad Cory Hayes has been in great form but can expect a strong challenge from Patrick Martin and Brooke Redden.

TaG 125 Heavy – Locals Ryan Barron and Taylor Thomas should be at the pointy end of the field in this tough class.

Open – Hard charging Daniel Currey should be the one watch in this class.
