Black Delta Announce KartKraft

  8 August 2015

Black Delta announced at Gamescom 2015 (the world’s largest computer and video game event that is currently running in Cologne, Germany) that expo attendees were the first in the world to experience their debut racing title, KartKraft.

Originally titled KartSim, KartKraft is the evolution of a university game prototype created by ex-kart racer and Black Delta CEO, Zach Griffin.

“What an incredible journey it’s been!" Griffin said.

"In 2005, I wrote the first prototype for KartKraft. After 10 years and what started as a university project in Melbourne, Australia, and now to debut the game at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany; it doesn’t get much better than this.

"Being so fortunate to combine my passions for gaming and racing karts, the vision for KartKraft far exceeded what one man could ever accomplish. Seven months since we launched the studio to rebuild KartKraft from the ground up, we can’t wait to show what the Black Delta team has been working on."

The Melbourne based studio said that fans and media are able to race on a 6-DOF hexapod motion simulator with the Oculus Rift, similar to those used by Formula One teams.

Airfreighted from Australia specifically for the Gamescom event, the simulator lets players feel every bump and vibration as the tyres grip, slide and bounce over the track.

It features laser-scanned circuits from around the world. Players can customise their avatar, kart and team with products from FREEM, Alpinestars, CRG, IAME, MIR, Sparco, Arai, Arrow, Monaco and many more.

KartKraft is scheduled for release on Early Access in Q4, 2015.
