CRG Secures Win & Two Podiums at Pro Tour

press release 23 August 2015

Team CRG has ended the latest round of the Rotax Pro Tour karting event at Puckapunyal (Vic) with another victory for Jason Pringle (DD2) and a handful of podiums in other categories.

Overall, Team CRG - led by Darren King and Mattia Madami - showed true determination and effort to turn a difficult Saturday into a successful Sunday.

Victorian veteran Pringle added to his major victories for Team CRG by being awarded the win in DD2 aboard his CRG chassis. Pringle originally crossed the line in second position before Kyle Henry-Smith was rubbed out by officials post event.

Pringle had his own drama earlier in the weekend being disqualified and handed a place penalty by officials after a racing incident in the second heat.

By virtue of his victory today, with just one event remaining, Pringle has all but guaranteed a place in Team Australia for the Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal in December.

Shamick Racing’s Kai Allen put in an excellent effort to finish second in the Mini Max Junior category. After sitting in the top five for much of the weekend, the young Victorian grew an extra leg come the final and pushed his way up to position two. He was also able to secure the fastest lap of the final as well.

Sadly, Allen’s Shamick Racing team-mate, James Wharton was unable to finish the final. Wharton had solidly been in the top 10 throughout the heat races and was on target for a terrific result on his home track.

Another podium for the black and orange came the way of Newcastle’s Mark Flood for McLain Racing in the DD2 Masters field. CRG stalwart Flood pushed hard all weekend and was rewarded with the second placed finish. His fellow New South Welshman, Jason Hryniuk brought his CRG DD2 machine home in fifth position.

Team CRG’s Micro Max racer, Adrian Haak didn’t get the rub of the green at Puckapunyal. Haak ran in the top group throughout the heat races, however was shuffled offtrack in the final. He was able to come forward and finish seventh at the drop of the chequers.

“Overall, it was an up and down weekend if I’m honest,” said Team CRG Team Manager, Darren King.

“On Saturday, we were battling quite a bit to get a handle across all classes. Through sheer hard work and determination of our entire team we were able to turn that around and walk away with a win and some podiums.

"Obviously, Jason racking up another win at the Pro Tour was the highlight, but Kai Allen’s effort was amazing. He had to work hard for it, he was in the mix all weekend but didn’t have that extra little piece of speed during the heats - but come the final, it came together for him which was great to see.

“To have Mark Flood score a podium is a terrific result for our team as well. It’s great to have Mark join the team in DD2 Masters and secure success very early on.

“We’re looking forward now to the next round of the Australian Kart Championships in two weekend’s time in Newcastle and of course the final event of the Rotax Pro Tour in October.”

The next major event for Team CRG will be the penultimate round of the Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE at Newcastle over the weekend of September 4-6.
