  • A bunch of idiots broke into the Lime Rock Park Raceway in the United States, stole some of their karts and started racing them around the track. They then crashed, injuring two of them, resulting in emergency helicopters, firefighters, police, and ambulances arriving to sort the mess out. Full story on Jalopnik HERE

  • Launceston Kart Club's annual Clubman Cup on September 20 will be a perfect shakedown for the upcoming Tasmanian Kart Championship. Karting Australia has granted the state championship "open" status, meaning interstaters are able to enter and race for the Tassie Title. The Championships take place on November 20 to 22. The Clubman Cup event is offering FREE entry to the state titles for the first Yamaha home in both Clubman Light and Clubman Heavy, and first over the line in Junior Clubman, plus other prizes.   • SKUSA has changed the finishing order of the TaG Junior final at their recent SummerNationals. Transponder timing awarded the win to David Malukas ahead Brandon Lemke by 0.001s. The SKUSA rounds are filmed for broadcasting, and replays of the finish showed that Lemke actually got to the line first. “Our goal is to provide a fair racing experience for all of our drivers, and the video evidence that we were presented with provided clear-cut proof that Brandon Lemke was indeed the winner" Race Director Terry Bybee said. “We’ll use this experience to improve our program and we’ll be adding a finish line camera at all future events.”

  • Jon Targett is currently in LeMans, France, assisting Jason Faint test for next weekend's KZ World Championship event, where Faint will pilot a JC Kart in the KZ2 Super Cup. "I raced here myself in the early 90's but the track is not the same anymore" JT wrote on Facebook. "Jason is doing a great job learning the track with one more test day here before returning to Italy for the weekend to prepare everything for the race."

  • Racer Industries in Queensland has moved to a new location with bigger showroom and larger range of stock. Racer Industries (and Project Mu) are now trading from the new address - 75 Norwell Road, Norwell, QLD 4208. New phone and fax numbers are tba, however the freecall number still operates - 1300 738 553.

  • V8 Ute racer and formar karter Jesse Dixon showed his support for Lachlan Hughes who had a serious crash at the Pucka Pro Tour round recently. "Scary stuff witnessing a mate in a big crash" Jesse wrote on Facebook. "This tough kid Lochie Hughes had a massive flip in his kart today landing on his head at about 70kmh at the Puckapunyal Rotax Pro Tour. Thankfully he was alright after some x-rays at the hospital and he's keen to jump straight back into his kart (or the replacement one..). Big thanks to the medical crew and everyone who assisted. Watch out for this young gun!"

  • Gippsland Kart Club has produced its own 'localised' version of a Getting Started In Karting brochure for club and karting promotions:

  • Upgrades continue at Canberra Kart Racing Club. "The temporary power running along the fence has been run underground. All overhead cables have been removed as improvements to the facilities continue" the club communicated on social media. "Next on the list is preparing the track for reverse direction. This will include new concrete to the out-grid exit with a left turning lane, new ripple strips, extensions to existing ripple strips and extensions to existing gravel traps" CKRC Vice President, Greg Williams said. "Our aim is to have the track ready, running clockwise, by the Canberra Cup in November."

  • Over 500 karters have attempted to enter the IAME International Final. "IAME Italy wishes to inform all drivers that due to more than 500 requests received at opening of entries yesterday, the entries for the IAME INTERNATIONAL FINAL are now stopped" the company informed the world. "Within the next few days all Drivers will receive the confirmation or denial of their entry."

  • Below is video of Justin Wilson, Jenson Button, Dan Wheldon, Anthony Davidson and Jay Howard in the Cadet class in the UK when they were about 9 years old. This video was actually published back in January of 2013, but with Wilson's tragic death the other week, it's hit the headlines on social media once more. Apart from a nostalgic look back, it's also a pretty good race!


  • Piero Pascazio made the front page of last week's Gold Coast Sun newspaper. "Piero will take part in the opening parade of the FMX and Monster Truck Show at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on September 5 to help raise funds for Child's Vision charity for children" his dad, Joey, told informed KartSportNews.



  • The legendary Winfield Racing School at Paul Ricard (France) is offering a fully funded season of Formula 4 racing to the winner of their Winter Selection program. Aimed at karters with eyes for F1, the Winter Selection will comprise nine races on three different configurations of the Paul Ricard circuit over just three weeks, in January 2016. The programme will include qualifying and race sessions as well as workshops on basic technical explanations, rules and regulations, insurance, physical and mental preparation, media training and road and racing conduct.   • Superkarting was not part of a CAMS meeting to discuss plans for the 2016 Shannons Nationals. Representatives from the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Australian GT, Sports Sedans, Kumho V8 Touring Cars, Australian F3 and Radical Australia were in attendance at CAMS’ Melbourne headquarters last Wednesday.   • 188 drivers will compete on the 1,384 metre Le Mans Karting International circuit on September 10 to 13. There are 36 entrants in the KZ World Championship class, and 101 for the CIK-FIA KZ2 International Supercup (which will be split into two Pre-finals before the Final to award the trophy). The entry list was published a few days back HERE and includes Australian Jason Faint (JC Kart) in KZ2.   • Gary Payne has been appointed to the Executive of Kartsport New Zealand. National President Graeme Moore said that Payne's appointment, which is for one year, brings the executive to full strength for the first time in recent history. Further detail on the Kartsport NZ website HERE.

  • Just landed in Australia, Benik Kart conducted successful testing programs across two tracks, Seymour and Geelong, during the week.
