bits n bobs of karting capers...

  • The Western Australian karting community has converged on the Hurricane Kart Club in Wundowie this weekend for the 2015 Western Australian Kart Championship. 237 entries have been received across 13 categories. Several 2014 champions will line up to defend their title, including Shane McPherson (Sportsman 100 Masters), Jesse Thomas (Junior National Light), Adam Levi (TaG 125 Light), Matt Davis (Clubman Heavy) and Tyler Peel (Open Performance). With 31 entries, the TaG 125 Light class is the largest field that includes some of the most experienced campaigners. Included in the entry list is Anthony Martin, who is fresh of a campaign in America where he claimed the Rookie of the Year Award in the USF2000 Mazda Road to Indy Championship. There are also some strong fields of both Clubman Light and Clubman Heavy. In Clubman Light there are a number of youngsters who will be looking to make their mark including Brock Kenny, Nikola Mitic, Jesse Elliott and Scott Foster. Taking the fight to the boys will be a pair of female racers – Kerry Foster and Stephanie Stones.

  • The second day in the 2015 Junior Sprockets program was held in Melbourne on Monday with more than 30 budding youngsters getting behind the wheel while receiving expert tips fromV8 V8 Supercars Champion Garth Tander and leading karting instructor Troy Hunt of Topgun Driver Training Academy.   • Logan Sargeant became the first American to win a CIK-FIA World Karting Championship since Lake Speed achieved the feat way back in 1978. The 14-year old put in a sterling effort to take out the KF Junior title at La Conca a week ago. Kart360 conducted an interview with the new world champ - read it HERE.
