Ferrari's First Female F1 Racer?

  14 October 2015

Ferrari will put Marta Garcia through a three-day camp that's part of the Ferrari Driver Academy programme.

This is a wise move from the stables of the Prancing Horse as getting her on a contract could possibly take the fast female off the market for the other teams.

The just-turned 15-year old has huge marketing potential in a racing environment. But just as important, the kid is quick.

Unlike some other ladies signed by F1 teams, Marta has some significant racing runs on the board, having won the CIK-FIA Junior Karting Academy Trophy for 2015. She was also 3rd in the Super WSK Master series, and 4th in the CIK-FIA European Championship (KF-J).

Unfortunately, she won't be doing a season of senior karting in 2016. Instead, Garcia and her management have elected to transfer to Formula 4 with plans to contest Italian and German series. It appears her last karting event could be the WSK Final Cup on November 1.

The late Jules Bianchi was a Ferrari Academy driver. Antonio Fuoco, Rafaelle Marciello, Lance Stroll and Guan Yu Zhou are current members.
