Karting News Briefs

  8 November 2015

anything karting goes here...

  • Lots of KA karters received a bogus email in the wee hours of Sunday morning, telling them their account had been hacked and that they needed to click a link to update their credentials. The email was not written by Karting Australia. "Please be advised that this email should be ignored and deleted without clicking on any links or replying" Karting Australia's Media & Marketing Manager, Lee Hanatschek, advised. "In order to avoid any possible damage or further spreading of the spam, our IT guys have de-activated the email distribution system and blocked all possible links should anyone inadvertently click on the link in the original email. The email system is operated separately to the CMS system and is not linked to any personal information. Apologies for any inconvenience."

  • Want to re-cap any (or all!) of the action from the final round of the 2015 Australian Kart Championship? All the action from Finals day at Geelong can be viewed on demand at the livestream.com website HERE.

  • The South Garda Karting facility at Lonato, Italy, is about to have the circuit extended from 1,010 metres to 1,190 metres. The new layout will start in the middle of the current “paddock” corner and will rejoin the old track at the beginning of the straight that leads to the mechanics grand stand. The width of the new sector will also be increased. The target is for the circuit to obtain Grade A homologation, thus allowing 34 starters. Track work commences 16 November. Re-open and testing is scheduled for December 4.

  • The 2015 VKA Presentation night will be held at the Taylors Lakes Hotel on Saturday, December 12. Golden Power Series presentations will be made along with the 2015 VKA Karters of the Year awards. More info on the VKA site HERE.

  • There are a couple of BIG prizes on offer in next years BMR Touring Kart Championship in the UK. The winner of the Junior Championship will win a free drive in the 2017 Ginetta (car racing) Junior Championship and the winner of the Senior Championship will win £50,000 (AUS$107,000!) towards their 2017 racing budget. The series is being run by BTCC team BMR. It will be a one-make series with all drivers using an Octane chassis powered by BMR's 250cc fuel-injected four stroke engine that produces 38hp. All engines are electronically mapped to produce identical power. "We will be providing workshop groups on everything from PR/Media training, to fitness and working with engineers who are involved in our championship winning British Touring Car program" a series promo stated.

  • The Vic Closed has morphed into the Vic Open! Well, sort of. The Victorian State Cup is an 'Open' race meeting and entries are expected from across Victoria as well as interstate for the first ever running. It will be contested at the Albury-Wodonga club's circuit on December 4 to 6. Supp Regs are HERE (addendum 1 HERE). Entries close Monday, 23 November.

  • Old clip. Still relevant:

  • facebook logoSome info for those who missed Thursday's News Briefs: Do you use Facebook? Does Facebook not always tell you when there's been a news item posted on KartSportNews? When items are published on Facebook, Facebook only sends it to a small percentage of the followers of that page. That's just how Facebook works. However, there's an easy way to make sure you're notified of updates. Firstly, make sure you've Liked the KartSportNews Facebook page (it's HERE). Then, go back and click the little arrow on what is now the "Liked" button and choose Notificaitons. You can then choose exactly what you want to see (we'd suggest tick everything). Of course, if you just visit the KartSportNews homepage every day, you'll never miss a thing anyway!
