Records Tumble at TaG Twilight Thunder

Launceston karter Troy Stone made the most of Saturday's perfect weather to claim victory in the TaG Heavy feature race at the Launceston Kart Club's FT Guy Bodyworks Twilight Thunder meeting.

Held in ideal summer conditions for fast racing, Stone dominated the feature class taking pole in qualifying and winning both heats and the final. Second and third went to two more Launceston karters in Steven Wrigley and Alastair Lee.

In the battle of the Beechey family where father Kerry faced off against daughter Leah in KA4 Light and KA4 Masters Pro, Leah took the honours on track however in their respective classes Kerry came home 2nd whilst Leah finished 3rd.

In other classes Toby Callow was Victorious in Cadet 9 after battling all day with Ollie Richardson. Denzil Sargent won Cadet 12. Tyson Phegan's first race meeting in Juniors proved productive with a commanding win, and his first visit to the podium. Second was Smithton's Logan Dixon with Launceston's Kyle Love third.

TaG Restricted Light went the way of Andrew Lee from Craig Phillips and North Western Kart Club member Brody Lovett took home the honours in TaG Restricted Heavy from brothers Troy and Allan Sheahen.

KA4 Master Pro saw Launceston trio Freddy Cocca take the win from Kerry Beechey and Tim Tubb.

The final class of the day KA4 Light was battle of two with brothers Johnah and Keenan Slater dicing all day, with elder brother Keenan taking home bragging rights on the day.

  • Cadet 9 - Toby Callow (40.283)
  • KA4 Junior Light - Tyson Phegan (37.688)
  • KA4 Senior Light - Johnah Slater (37.699)
  • KA4 Masters - Alfredo Cocca (39.630)
  • TaG Restricted Light - Andrew Lee (36.152)
  • TaG Heavy - Alastair Lee (35.772)
