An exciting opportunity has arisen for young female karters thanks to the continued efforts of the FIA’s Women and Motor Sport Commission (WMC), which has announced the renewal of  its partnership with the CIK-FIA for 2016.

The WMC is aiming to select one young female driver in this year’s edition of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, with one kart out of the 51 allocated for the program being reserved for a young female driver aged from 13 to 15.

A world-wide call for candidates has been issued, and with the support of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, the Women of Australian Motor Sport (WAMS) Committee has today opened search for any young Australian female karters who are interested in being considered to be put forward as its Australian nomination.

The opportunity sees the karting entry being provided free of charge to the successful international applicant for the three-event Trophy program, starting in France in April (followed by two other European events in June and September).

This is the fourth year of the project by the FIA WIMC, with the Trophy being a genuine competition based on the usual format of international karting events – free practice, timed practice, qualifying heats and two finals – and a competition that will provide extensive international exposure and experience to the successful applicant.

The Trophy will also be backed by an educational program for the drivers, addressing topics relating to safety, the code of driving conduct on circuits, the anti-doping code, the patrimony of Karting and more.

If you are an Australian female karter aged from 13 years to 15 years (born from 2000 to 2003), hold a Grade C Junior International Karting Licence (or be eligible for one), and wish to apply for consideration in this program by WAMS and the FIA WIMC, please complete the racing CV form provided on this webpage, a cover letter and submit to WAMS no later than Sunday February 7, 2015 via info@wams.org.au

Please note selection for this position will be done via CV’s with the ultimate decision being made by the FIA WMC steering committee and announced by March 14th 2016. If required an on track selection may be organized. The successful candidate will be provided with 5000 Euro to help cover travel costs for the season. Any additional costs, as outlined in the “Conditions of Participation” will be the responsibility of the candidate. Please note the candidate MUST compete in all 3 rounds.
