Port Macquarie Go Independent for 4-Round Series

  8 February 2016

The Port Macquairie Kart Racing Club is about to embark on an "independent" four-round championship series.

The 2016 East Coast National Championship will not be affiliated with any of the bodies many associate with running karting in this country, such as Karting Australia, AKRA, AIDKA or CAMS.

Instead, the club will be administering the event itself, with insurance via Trans West.

"(It's) a new initiative by PMKRC to invigorate karting in the region with user friendly, cost effective, hassle free events for karting competitors" the club advised KartSportNews.

The club will accept entries from competitors who are currently licenced with Karting Australia, AIDKA, AKRA or CAMS. The series entry fee incorporates a PMKRC licence that will last the entire year, covering future race meetings and practice days.

The club remains affiliated with Karting Australia and still plan to run KA race meetings during the year.

The East Coast National Championship will have just eight classes (4 senior, 4 junior) featuring TaG and Rotax categories.

The first round is on March 13, followed by rounds in May, June and the final in August. Race format is three heats, pre-final and final. Friday practice prior to each round will be free. Camping is welcomed at the circuit.

Round and series trophies will be bolstered by a range of product, tyre & voucher prizes. Major series prizes include a Deadly chassis & IAME engine for seniors, while an Intrepid Freedom chassis is up for grabs for juniors.

The club would like to thank the following sponsors for their foresight in backing this series:

  • The Miedecke Motor Group Port Macquarie
  • Resource Recovery Great Lakes
  • DPE Kart Technology
  • International Karting Distributors
  • Trans West Insurance Brokers

"Come & enjoy the friendly Pacific Coast hospitality, and a fresh, hassle free approach to kart racing"
