Will The Locals Stand Tall Again?

from Stuart Lee 4 March 2016

The first round of the Andrew Walter Constructions Tasmanian Statewide Series last month saw a host of North Western Kart Club members stand on the top step of the podium in their respective classes.

The second round this weekend is being held on their home track which should give them an added advantage and opportunity to extend their points lead in the Statewide Series Championship.

Leading the way will be defending Clubman Light Champion (now KA3) Shane Bray who had a convincing win in round 1 at the Circular Head Kart Club. Bray will looking to fend off Hobart duo Zevie Eisentraut and Tabatha Badger to maintain his lead in the series.

Keenan Slater is another local to taste victory in the opening round when he defeated brother and reigning State Champion Johnah in the final of KA4 Light. The two brothers will be keen to hold off the pack at their home track with another Hobart duo of Gemma Wyllie and Bodie Reading hot on their heels.

In the fastest class of racing in Tasmania, TaG 125 Light, Jade Waddington took the honours in round 1 after a fierce battle with Launceston's Nathan Zuj. The two look like they will be evenly match all year and will be the final to watch come Sunday afternoon. Adam Garwood and Hobart's Brad Hobden have a bit of work to do if they want to mix it with the front two.

Jake Rice had a commanding day at round 1 of the series when he won all four races in TaG 125 Heavy. Alastair Lee and Troy Stone looked the best of the rest and will need to pick up their game in qualifying if they want to via for the top step on the podium.

Brodey Lovett is the last of the local's who will be going for back to back victories when he takes on the field in TaG Restricted Heavy. In fact Lovett is almost unbeatable in this class and once again will start favourite, however the pack is closing with brothers Troy and Allan Sheahen and the returning Jason Close all capable of winning on their day.
