KA's Junior Sprockets To Expand In 2016

Do you know any kids, not currently involved in the sport, who might like to go kart racing? Karting Australia has announced its 'Junior Sprockets' program will expand in 2016. The program was launched last year and is KA's structured approach to enable young drivers to experience karting and educate them about the sport.

Karting Australia, in conjunction with SP Tools, has confirmed the Junior Sprockets program will return in 2016.
Following a pilot program in Queensland and Victoria last year, this year will see up to six Junior Sprockets ‘Get Started in Karting’ days held across the country.
The involvement of SP Tools will see the young attendees learn from V8 Supercar drivers and other professional motor racing drivers who will be a part of the instructor team headed up by leading karting coach Troy Hunt.
Hunt, who was a seven-time Australian Karting Champion during his career, has spent the last 15 years helping to develop the skills of karting drivers all across the country and is excited about heading up the Junior Sprockets program in 2016.

“Kart racing can be a challenging sport for young people to understand and this program is all about breaking down the barriers for potential new members,” said Hunt.
“It’s not just about them getting in a kart and having a go, it’s about helping them understand the kart and educating them at the same time.
“I’m excited about being a part of this opportunity that provides the platform for our sport to have a newcomers program just like many other major sports across the country do.”
With up to six Junior Sprockets ‘Get Started in Karting’ days set to be held across the country Karting Australia’s Chief Executive Officer Kelvin O’Reilly believes the potential for the sport through the program is significant.
“The Junior Sprockets program has been designed to provide a structured approach to enable young drivers to experience the thrill of kart racing, while also educating them about the sport at the same time,” said O’Reilly.
“We had a great response to last year’s pilot program with many new young members being created. We’re looking forward to expanding and increasing the opportunities for new members in 2016.”
