  • Karting Australia updated its 'approved oils' list on March 1. Various products from Global Racing, Lucas Oil, Rock Oil and Xtreme Oil have been added. Inspect the revised list HERE.

  • Combined Districts Kart Club will be running the “Cols Castle Cup” on Saturday March 26 at Lithgow City Raceway. This is the third year CDKC has dedicated the meeting to the memory of one of the club's greats, Col Becker. The Lithgow Clubhouse is known as “Col's Castle”. The class selected this year to race for the prestigious award is Cadet 12. In an effort to rejuvenate the KA4 Masters class there is also $100 up for grabs as a luck-of-the-draw for all entrants in KA4 Masters. Entry is now open on CMS, Supp Regs HERE.

  • Decisions regarding karting taken by the FIA World Motor Sport Council at its March 4 meeting:
    • The WMSC validated the tender won by LeCont for the supply of tyres to the 2016 CIK-FIA Endurance Championship (Le Mans 24 Hours Karting, 17 and 18 September)
    • Approval of the 2016 CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship calendar: 20-22 May Lédenon (FRA), 3-5 June Donington (GBR), 5-7 August Assen (NLD)
    • The CIK-FIA reminds that the closing date for entries to the three Competitions of the CIK-FIA European KZ and KZ2 Championships will be on 16th March 2016. The cost of entries will then rise from €1560 to €2080 until March 23th. Entries solely for the Competition at Essay (FRA) for Wild Card Drivers will end on March 16th, for an amount of €520 before increasing to €780 until March 23rd, 2016.

  • Grenfell Kart Club will host the opening round of the Southern Star Series next month:

  • Karting Australia report that Victorian Matty Smith will become the first Australian driver to compete in the KZ2 class aboard a Madcroc chassis when he contests round 2 of the Australian Kart Championship at Pucka later this month. Smith has joined the Madcroc New Zealand team led by Ryan Grant.

  • Earn bonus points if you take to the track after it's been declared a wet race - that's how things work in SKUSA's California ProKart Challenge! At the recent round 2 at Willow Springs, a brief light shower forced officials to declare the track 'wet', meaning any driver who then raced after that declaration was credited with 100 bonus points. Geez, talk about going soft... since when did karters need to be bribed with bonus points to race on a wet track? It's even more fun in the wet!

I want to give club karters and club level karting more coverage in 2016. This can only happen with the assistance of people within the clubs.

Do you wonder why some clubs get their race meetings covered on the site, yet others don't? There's a pretty simple answer - I can't publish stuff I don't have!

So, is there a person (or people) at your club who can write up a bit of a race report, take a few photos then send it all through for publication on KartSportNews? I'm more than happy to give your club members and drivers some recognition for their racing efforts, but I have to rely on others to submit this information.

Now, go read more about this on the Contribute page    :)

Cheers,
Mark Wicks
