Australian Title Highlights Goodger's Season

press release 30 June 2016

The 2015-16 season will be one to remember for Dylan Goodger, who won his maiden Australian Speedway Kart Title at Tamworth’s Oakburn Park Speedway.

Racing in the 125 Pro Non Gearbox class, Goodger began his night in promising form, scoring three out of four heat-race wins and a second place, which qualified him on pole position for the 15-lap feature race. His good form continued as he led from start to finish in his IAME-powered BRK Kart, going on to take the chequered flag and secure Australian Title glory.

With nine years of racing and six state titles under his belt, Goodger is no stranger to success, having previously won five NSW Titles, one Queensland Title, scoring second in a Victorian Title and winning the Des Carsburg Memorial race twice; however, until this season an Australian Title win had evaded him.

The western Sydney-based racer has placed fourth in Australian Titles on two occasions in the Standards class and last season finished second in the 125 Pro Gearbox class behind Phil Perrott at Waikerie’s Sunline Speedway in South Australia. Having only competed in two shows leading up to this season’s Australian Title-decider, Goodger managed to make it all count to clinch the coveted Australia # 1 plate.

“It’s a huge relief to have finally achieved an Australian Title win,” expressed the 22-year-old racer.

“After missing out on numerous occasions, it feels fantastic to have gotten the monkey off my back. It’s a testament to my new BRK chassis, which has been running fantastic this season.”

Next season, Goodger intends to contest around a dozen race meetings, which will include defending his Australian Title, as well as running the state title events and vying for a hat-trick of wins in the Des Carsburg Memorial. Lightning Sprints may also be on the horizon for Goodger, the racer having said that it may be a class he would like to try his hand at in the not too distant future.

Goodger would like to thank his dad (Ray), mum (Wendy), Courtney (girlfriend), Glen Corish (CIG Racing), Joel Goff (Killer Image), Ben Brown (BRK) and R&B Brick Supply & Brick Matching.
