Top Half Series Final Too Close To Call

press release 27 July 2016

It's too close to call in at least four classes as this year's CRC Speedshow-sponsored Top Half kart series goes down to the wire in Auckland this weekend.

The KartSport Auckland club is hosting this year's series' final at its Strata Networks Raceway at Rosebank Domain and in one class - Vortex Mini ROK - just one point separates series points leader Connor Davison from runner-up Ryan Crombie.

There are also just three points separating class leader Lee Zeltwanger from runner-up Joshua Parkinson in Rotax Junior.

Kaden Probst also has a three point buffer on current class runner-up Liam Sceats in Cadet ROK. However Sceats has now moved to the next age group class, Vortex Mini ROK, meaning Probst now has to keep an eye on not one but two drivers, Sebastian Manson and Ryan Bell, who are respectively just 11 and 13 points behind him.

With a 47-point buffer over class points runner-up Elliot Malcolm, Corey Green has all but wrapped up the 125cc Rotax Max Light class. Sam Waddell, meanwhile, heads into the final series' round with a 24 point lead over Glenn Ellis in DD2, and Caleb Hartley has a similar (24 point) lead over Simon Macrae in 125cc Rotax Max Heavy.

It's back to single digits in the other Senior class -  ClubSport 120 - though, with Graham Knight just five points behind series leader Steve Muggeridge.

This year's CRC Speedshow Top Half series has a prize pool including a minimum of $8,500 in prize money, $6,000 in CRC product giveaways, four sets of MG tyres and a custom-painted Arai SK-6 helmet complete with helmet bag courtesy Arai NZ, Headcase Designs and Lightning Racegear valued at $2000.
