Reigning Australian KZ2 Champion Jason Pringle will lead the Australian charge at the 2016 CIK-FIA International Super Cup in Kristianstad, Sweden this weekend.

While he has been a seven-time representative at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals over the past decade, the Swedish event will be Pringle's first at the CIK-FIA level.

“It really is a bucket list event for me. I’ve done a bit of overseas racing with Rotax but to get to an event where all the factory teams are present, and to be a part of one of them, is something that I’m really looking forward to,” said Pringle.

“As a kid a growing up around the sport, you always dream of one day racing with a factory team in Europe so this opportunity is certainly a dream come true for me.

“Being 30 years old and running a business I’d almost given up on ever competing at this level internationally, without winning last year’s championship this opportunity wouldn’t be possible.

“I’d really like to thank Karting Australia and all of the sponsors of the Australian Kart Championship who have made it happen.”

Pringle will be one of 89 drivers who are entered in the KZ2 category for the event that begins with practice on Wednesday.

“It’s a massive event, the first aim will be to qualify well and then finish every heat race,” said Pringle.

“With the track not being what could be referred to as a home circuit for all of the factory teams it is something that could help me. While most of the teams have tested there, they got years of experience like they do at places like La Conca or Genk.

“I’ve watched a few videos of races at Kristianstad but its always hard to get a good gauge until you get there. I’m looking forward to the experience and learning as much as possible.”

Joining Pringle on the KZ2 grid at the event will be Gold Coast-based Dutchman Marijn Kremers, Bundaberg’s Troy Loeskow and Canberra’s Joshua Fife.

Ex-Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello is competing in the World KZ Championship at the same event. The Brazilian is one of 34-drivers in the elite field that features the likes of Marco Ardigo, Davide Forè, Rick Dreezen and New Zealand pair Marcus Armstrong and Daniel Bray.
