Ricciardo's Rental Karts

  2 September 2016

Daniel Ricciardo's range of karts has expanded to include the Ricciardo Kart Rental line.

Manufactured by karting power house Birel ART, the Ricciardo Kart N35 comes in four different body work configurations and five different engine options - including this industry leading electric version.

"We are excited to finally show you after years of research and development on and off the track by none other than Daniel Ricciardo himself, his very own Ricciardo Kart Rental line" Australian and New Zealand importer/distributor Partizicorse informed KartSportNews.

"Racing is in his blood, but a good time is his nature. By developing a rental line he hopes to share his passion for karting directly with the public."

At the Offenbach karting Industry show in January, Birel ART/Ricciardo Kart presented a very innovative electric powered go-kart (E-kart) developed in partnership with Zero Motorcycle, a leading manufacturer in the USA for electric motorbikes.

The E-kart features a totally new innovation for the electric market: a battery removable in less than one minute. The run-time and charging-cycle of the battery are identical, allowing a continuous cycle of use for the kart.

The company claims the E-kart features the most compact and lightest battery in the market for the amount of energy it contains: the lithium-Ion battery has nominal voltage of 102 Volts and weighs 21kg, including the battery box itself.

"The complete kart weighs 165kg, almost 50kg lighter than the competitors in the market" Patrizicorse said.

"Thanks to the functional simulation and on-track tests done by the Birel ART’s R&D department, the integration of the powertrain and the management software has been optimized, in order to ensure safety, reliability, performance, stability, consistency, weight and balance."

Some specs & numbers:

  • Motor: FXS 75-5
  • Max torque: 57 Nm
  • Max power: 27hp (20 kW) at 3,700rpm
  • Power pack max capacity: 3.3 kWh (air cooled with an IPM Motor for significantly better cooling)
  • Estimated pack life to 80%: 127,000km.
  • Complete kart weight: 165kg
  • Chassis: Ø 35x2 mm chrome molybdenum

Abive & Below: One of the options is this flip-open bodywork

All the bodywork and impact structures have been designed to protect the entire front and rear of the chassis, creating a 'survival cell' around the driver and increasing their safety.

In order to limit damage to the kart’s wheels and mechanical parts, fenders are attached to the chassis by means of rubber inserts to isolate them from the chassis structure.

The bodywork is made from memory system plastic, designed specifically to withstand and absorb impacts of over 10G.

The N35-GT E-kart model is fitted with a half-cover that can be flipped open.

The chassis design is derived from the experience gained in racing and is made of 35mm chrome-molly tube with 2mm wall.

There is even an App for the kart. Thanks to Bluetooth connection and compatibility with iOS and Android devices, the Zero Motorcycles App allows drivers to display the battery level on their device.

There is also a "diagnostic system" that allows the circuit operator to check the lifing of parts and components and communicate with the organisation's call center.
