  • Auto Action magazine has reported that Karting Australia CEO Kelvin O'Reilly is working on a project for Supercars. Paul Gover wrote in issue #1692 that a "Top-to-tail review of Supercars racing is underway" and that O'Reilly is the one doing the review. The publication wrote that O'Reilly refused to acknowledge his work for Supercars, or his commission from the category.

  • The 2016 Victorian State Championship points that were published on Sunday night have been updated. A correction was made to the scores following a post race penalty in the KA4 Junior Heavy final at Puckapunyal. The recalculation has led to Jackson Rice placing third overall in the standings, one point ahead of Lukas Janev. Final series points for NSW, South Australia and Victoria are HERE.

  • September Kart Sale! Save $500 off the RRP on DPE KT karts, available for Cadet, 28J and Vegas models. See your local dealer!

  • Karting Victoria's annual presentation night will this year be held on Saturday night, December 10 at the Taylors Lakes Hotel. • IAME has closed the entry for the 2016 IAME International Final. In fact, due to the massive number received, some drivers will likely miss out. IAME will contact those who nominated with entry confirmation, refusal or waiting list status shortly.

  • A reminder that the circuit for the upcoming Tasmanian Kart Championship has a 30-kart capacity, and that entries will be closed off for any classes that reach this limit.

The usual categories are on offer, plus TaG Restricted Light and Heavy. Any KA licenced driver with an A, B or C grade licence is eligible to enter, ie this is an old-school single-event "Open" State Championship that welcomes interstate drivers!

Supp Regs for the event (Highclere Raceway,18-20 November) are HERE. Entry closes 4 November.

  • Rubens Barrichello has confirmed he will compete for Brazil in DD2 at this year's ROTAX MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Italy. Check out the progressive entry list (and driver info) for the event HERE as competitors are confirmed from the various countries around the world.

  • Special red plates are up for grabs this weekend at the Australasian Kart Titles at Numurkah, VIC:

  • KA3 frontrunner in the Australian Kart Championship, Cody Donald, will pilot a second Junior Racing Development prepared Formula 4 this weekend at Sandown. The 16-year-old Victorian will use the meeting as critical race experience as he prepares for a 2017 campaign in the category.

  • Drew Price #39 on the Vintage Grenfell poster. The event was to have featured a McCulloch v Victa Challenge, however we hear the on-track action was rained out. Bring on next year.

  • Karting Australia has issued a rule clarification regarding mixing licence levels on track at the same time. Specifically, licence holders are only permitted to drive a kart in the class for which their Licence is endorsed (eg, Cadet 12 drivers are not permitted to drive a Junior class kart; a D-grade senior licence holder is not permitted to drive TaG125 kart etc.). Further reminder, Cadet, Junior and Senior licence holders cannot be mixed on track with one another - ever. Read the official document HERE.

  • Autosport reports the Motor Sports Association in the UK has responded to a rise in social media abuse by warning that repeat offenders may face disciplinary action, and could even be banned. Seems there has been an increase in online harassment and abuse cases across all age groups (not just karting), particularly by those posting comments to social media 'in the heat of the moment' without really thinking too hard about what they're doing. Read the article HERE.

  • The upcoming Junior Sprockets days in the September/October school holidays have all sold out! If your kid missed out, don't let that prevent them from giving karting a go. If you've got friends that have even just the faintest interest in kart racing, get them along to your local track so they can sniff the fumes and become hooked :) Adopt a buddy and show them about this great sport!

  • The close of entries date for the WA State Championships has been extended from 14 September to 5pm September 21 (next Wednesday). Like the Tassie Titles, this is an old-school single-event "Open" State Championship that welcomes interstate drivers, providing their licence grade is A, B or C! The event takes place at Wanneroo on September 29 to October 2. Supp Regs are HERE.

  • WA Motorsport identity Wanye Negus has passed away. He was a noted touring car mechanic and racer with the factory HDT in the 1970s. "Wayne Negus was a huge influence in Karting here in WA and he will be deeply missed" Frank Viola wrote on Facebook. "His sons Matthew and Brad are two of the best drivers to have ever graced WA kart tracks. I would like to pass on my condolences to Matt and Brad and the Negus family."

  • This was floating around on Facebook the other day, and it's worth repeating here:
    • Sent in by a competitor... Why I Prenominate. When I first started karting, prenominating only existed for big events. Otherwise you checked the calendar, phoned your mates and rounded up a decent field for your class. Nominations closed at 9am on a Saturday morning and many times we scrambled in with minutes to spare to sign the forms. Now we all check pre-entry lists on CMS and for a lot of people if the numbers are low, they give the meeting a miss. Clubs need you to pre-nominate! Why? It shows other karters that it is a race meeting worth going to. It lets the canteen people ensure that your favourite foods are available. It says thank you to the club organisers and officials for giving up their time to get these events to happen. You won't scare people away by prenominating; you'll get bigger fields. Prenominate to make our sport great.
