ROTAX International Open: Make or Break

The 2016 ROTAX MAX Euro Challenge looks back on a great season: four events, 20 track days, 1,188 laps, about 400 entries and competitors from all around the world are only some impressive facts and figures of a remarkable year.
But the season is not over yet. There is one more major event on the agenda for the karting elite: promoted by RGMMC, the ROTAX MAX International Open will take place from 5th to 9th of October 2016. For the second time the prestigious event is held on the modern karting circuit of the Adria Raceway.

While the drivers like the 1.300 metres long track due to its mix of tight corners and long straights, the teams and spectators appreciate the facilities, as the Adria Raceway is a state-of-the-art complex in Europe's Karting scene. RGMMC expects full grids in the three categories of juniors, seniors and DD2, especially since the ROTAX MAX International Open provides the last chance to qualify for the ROTAX MAX Grand Finals at Sarno (ITA) only one week later. All the competitors fight for the six remaining tickets for the ROTAX MAX Grand Finals – two in each of the three categories.
In the junior category the top three drivers of the ROTAX MAX Euro Challenge will stand in the spotlight: the reigning champion Axel Charpentier (Strawberry Racing) surely will be the youngster to be beaten. Especially this year's runner-up Mark Kimber (Strawberry Racing) hopes for a successful rematch. But they have to watch out for Oli Caldwell (KR Sport). The Brit who finished third in the 2016 Euro Challenge mustn't be underestimated.

Nicolas Schoell (Strawberry Racing) will be the quarry in the senior class. The man from Austria crowned himself champion of the ROTAX MAX Euro Challenge and aims for another trophy in his collection. But Turkey's Berkay Besler (Bouvin Power), designated titleholder of the X30 Euro Series, surely will do everything he can to prevent Schoell from a having a walkover. But the list of potential favourites is even longer: Russia's Denis Mavlanov (Bouvin Power), Jordan Brown Nutley (Dan Holland Racing) from the UK or Dutchman Lars Lamborelle (Dan Holland Racing) are only a few popular drivers who have already proven their skills successfully.
In the eminent category of the DD2 one expects a duel between Austria's Constantin Schoell (Daems) and Hungary's Ferenc Kancsar (VPDR). The duo took places two and three in the 2016 Euro Challenge and will likely set the pace in Adria. With Andreas Backman (Daems Racing) from Sweden and Marcel Schirmer (RS Competition) from Germany two prominent names will give their comeback in the DD2 grid – both aiming for a top result.

All told the ROTAX MAX International Open is a non-miss event, which surely will have some exciting and action loaded races in stock. There is a lot at stake: besides the last tickets to the ROTAX Grand Finals, all drivers take part in a lottery for free starting grids in the 2017 ROTAX MAX Winter Cup and a complete season in the 2017 ROTAX MAX Euro Challenge.
